Company Overview

Texmaco Nymwag Rail & Components Private Limited is a joint venture between Texmaco Rail & Engineering Limited, a leading Indian rail equipment manufacturer based in Kolkata, and NYMWAG CS a.s., a freight wagon manufacturer from Nymburk, Czech Republic, and part of the AZC Group. Established in 2023, the company combines Indian manufacturing strength with European freight wagon expertise.

The joint venture was created to support the development of freight wagon and rail component manufacturing in India, with a focus on the Indian market and future international opportunities. Together, the partners bring industrial capability, technical know-how, and a shared commitment to quality, reliability, and long-term growth.

Integrated Management System

Our Integrated Management System provides the framework for managing quality, environment, and occupational health and safety throughout the organization. In February 2026, we received ISO certification, confirming our commitment to disciplined processes and continuous improvement.

We are also progressing in railway manufacturing certifications, including ISO 3834 and EN 15085, and are working toward G 105 certification by the end of 2026.

Objectives of the JV

Manufacturing & Product Focus

The JV is set up to design, manufacture and sell freight railway wagons and critical components. The facility in Kolkata produces a range of freight rolling stock including:
  • Open-top wagons
  • Container flat wagons
  • Tank wagons
  • Other wagon types and components
The production setup covers key assemblies and parts that are essential to modern freight operations.

Manufacturing & Product Focus

  • The joint venture’s manufacturing plant is located in Sodepur, Kolkata:
  • Started in March 2024 and completed by October 2025.
  • Facility size: Around 8,300 m? with four production bays.
  • Annual capacity is to produce up to 2,500 wagons per year.
  • Equipment: Includes advanced metal-cutting systems from ESAB (Sweden), welding technology from Fronius (Austria), and other machinery sourced from Indian manufacturers.
  • First outputs: Trial production began in late 2025 with the first series-built wagon — a four-axle open wagon — slated for rollout in early 2026.
  • These facilities strengthen India’s manufacturing base for rail freight equipment and demonstrate modern production standards aligned with global best practices.

Strategic Importance

Domestic Rail Sector

The JV aligns with wider initiatives to modernize India’s rail freight capabilities. It supports the railways’ demand for high-quality, high-volume freight wagons and components, helping to reduce dependence on imports and meeting increasing industrial logistics needs.

Exports & Global Integration

A key objective beyond serving domestic requirements is exporting finished wagons and components globally — targeting markets in Europe, Asia and North America. This positions the Kolkata facility as an export hub, leveraging both partners’ strengths.

Technology & Skill Transfer

Through joint management and technical collaboration, Nymwag contributes European-level wagon design and quality control standards, while Texmaco’s existing manufacturing ecosystem facilitates scalable operations and integration into India’s rail supply chain.

Economic & Employment Impact

The development of the JV and its manufacturing facilities is expected to:
  • Generate employment in the region, including technical and skilled jobs.
  • Strengthen the industrial ecosystem in West Bengal, especially around Sodepur and Kolkata’s rail manufacturing cluster.
  • Boost related industries such as steel fabrication, welding systems, and logistics.

Positioning & Outlook

The Texmaco-Nymwag venture advances India’s rail manufacturing capabilities at a time when freight movement and logistics infrastructure are priorities for economic growth. The plant’s focus on both domestic supply and exports allows it to play a dual role:
  • Supporting India’s rail freight modernization
  • Becoming part of the global supply chain for rail wagons and components
  • Boost related industries such as steel fabrication, welding systems, and logistics.
By blending international technology with local manufacturing capacity, the JV is expected to significantly contribute to higher wagon output, quality enhancement and advanced rail freight solutions in the years ahead.
